Brass Gate Valves Singapore

Brass Gate Valves for Plumbing, M&E, Marine & Industrial Pipework

Chuan Hock Hardware supplies brass gate valves in Singapore to plumbers, M&E contractors, marine workshops, and industrial pipework contractors. Gate valves are full-bore isolation valves — designed to operate fully open or fully closed, not to regulate flow. Available in BSP and NPT threads from ½” to 4″, with rising and non-rising stem options. Contact us for stock confirmation, sizing advice, and pricing.

Where Brass Gate Valves Are Used in Singapore

Water Supply & Plumbing

Isolation on incoming mains, risers, and branch lines where the valve remains fully open during normal service and is operated only during maintenance or shutdown.

Marine & Shipboard Pipework

Brass and bronze gate valves are widely specified for general seawater and freshwater service on vessels. The full-bore design minimises pressure drop across the line.

Irrigation & Washdown Systems

The straight-through bore gives negligible pressure loss across landscape irrigation, garden supply, and hose-down lines — suitable where flow efficiency matters.

Industrial Pipework

Pump suction and discharge isolation in light to medium-duty industrial systems where a positive shut-off is required and the valve is not used for throttling.

Rising Stem vs Non-Rising Stem Brass Gate Valves

NON-RISING STEM

Rotates without travelling upward, keeping the installed height constant. Suits riser shafts, pipe ducts, ceiling voids, and any installation with limited vertical clearance.

Best for: Tight spaces, pipe ducts, risers
RISING STEM

Lifts as the valve opens, giving a visible external indication of valve position. Preferred in plant rooms and process areas where operators need to confirm open/closed status at a glance.

Best for: Plant rooms, process areas, accessible installations

If you are unsure which stem type suits your installation, contact us with the pipe size and installation constraints.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brass Gate Valves

What is the difference between a gate valve and a ball valve?
A ball valve uses a quarter-turn rotating ball to open or close the line and is faster to operate. A gate valve uses a multi-turn handwheel and a wedge disc. Both are isolation valves, but ball valves are generally preferred for applications requiring frequent operation, while gate valves are specified where the valve remains in a fixed position for long periods.
Can brass gate valves be used to throttle flow?
No. Partial opening causes disc vibration, seat erosion, and premature failure. For flow regulation, specify a globe valve or needle valve. For frequent on/off duty, specify a ball valve.
What thread standard should I specify?
BSP (British Standard Pipe) is the standard for Singapore plumbing and building services work. NPT (National Pipe Thread) is used in some industrial and marine applications. If you are unsure, check the existing fittings on site or contact us with the pipe details.
